What type of workout is best for me?

The most straightforward answer I can give to this question is this: the best type of workout for you is the one you're most likely to do, consistently.

If you hate your workouts, what do you think the chances are that you're going to do them? For more than a week or two? Yep, slim to none. So how effective will they be when you're barely doing them? Yep, you guessed it - not effective whatsoever.

Now, each person is different - we have different goals, different preferences, different limitations and different schedules. What works for someone, may just not be the best thing for you. This is why I shy away from "one size fits all" programs for myself. Unfortunately, many of these programs market to people by using pictures of buff dudes or girls with a six pack and buns of steel doing cute little workouts on a rooftop or beach - but did THEY do those exercises to look that way? We don't know, but I'm gonna venture to say probably not.

Most likely they had a combination of strength training and cardio, that was tailored to their individual needs. Most likely they did not build those glutes doing booty bands on the beach. Sorry, but that's just not how science works, unfortunately.

So, bottom line is that there is no single answer for everyone - it depends on the person. Working with a Certified Personal Trainer is your best bet to creating a program that truly suits you and motivates you to actually do them, consistently. And at the end of the day, that's the goal, right?!
